TEAM HOPE WALK FOR HD COMES TO DELAWARE VALLEY
May marks HD Awareness Month. Local chapter expects hundreds at Montgomery County Community College to raise money and awareness to fight Huntington’s disease.
Philadelphia, PA – To commemorate HD Awareness Month, The Huntington’s Disease Society of America’s Delaware Valley Chapter will be holding its annual Team Hope Walk for HD event on Sunday, May 15 at Montgomery County Community College in Blue Bell, PA. Over 300 people are expected to attend the event, which will begin with on-site registration at 9 am and end after the walk with an HDSA Delaware Valley family picnic.
Huntington’s disease is an inherited, progressively degenerative brain disorder that results in a loss of both mental faculties and physical control. It is estimated that 1 in every 10,000 people in the United States have HD, with hundreds of thousands more people at risk of inheriting the disease. You can learn more at HDSA.org.
The 2011 Team Hope Walk for HD is the marquee event in the region that is designed to raise money and awareness in the fight against this devastating disease. The walk will go through the MCCC campus with raffles and prizes to be given away prior to the start of the family picnic.
