Neighborhood Classics - Face the Music

On Sunday, June 3, 2012 at 3 pm, Face the Music will perform at PS 321.
Praised for “stunning performances” by The New York Times, Face the Music is an “alt-classical” ensemble of more than sixty talented teenagers from in and around New York City. Founded by Kaufman Center’s Jenny Undercofler and composer Huang Ruo in 2005, Face the Music provides an unparalleled performance and education experience for the next generation of musical leaders.
Recipient of ASCAP’s 2011 Aaron Copland Award, Face the Music is in residence at the Kaufman Center, and features middle and high school students from over twenty different New York area schools.
In this concert for the Neighborhood Classics Series, Face the Music will present the “dramatic solutions” of four composers. Like mathematical equations, certain pieces of music represent the working out of meaty or provocative ideas. The concert will include Osvaldo Golijov’s Last Round, for string ensemble; Steve Martland’s Horses of Instruction, for mixed classical/rock ensemble; Anna Clyne’s short quartet Primula Vulgaris ; and Robert Honstein’s Night Mixes .
If not possible, you do not need to print out your tickets. Please stop at the Will Call table in the school lobby at least 15 minutes before the show for concert entry.
The ticket sales for this concert will be closed at 10 AM on Saturday, June 2, 2012. If you come to this page and the option to buy tickets is off, don't worry. You can always go to the concert and buy tickets at the concert entry, unless it states that the concert is sold out.
