Organics for Fido

Age Suitability: None Specified

While we are in constant pursuit of healthier, local, organic products for our own bodies, our pets more often than not seem to get the short end of the stick. For those of us organic and natural food enthusiasts who persistently dissect the labels on our own food, why not exercise the same caution when it applies to sweet Fido’s food and treats? Reading the ingredients in your average, packaged container of pet treats is like embarking on a journey across chemical plains full of weird fillers and words we can’t pronounce or begin to understand, and would never dare put in our own bodies. Many of the items found in processed pet treats are linked to a number of problems in our pet’s health: from cancer to allergies and major skin conditions. Join us and turn this into a fun project for the whole family, learning to make Fido organic treats in the comfort of your own kitchen that’ll make him bow wow in approval. In this class, we’ll cover the basics of organic pet treats, from ingredients to flavors your pet will adore. We’ll show you how to focus on your pet’s needs by showing you recipes for weight management, allergies, dogs in training, and finicky pets. Bring the kids, mom and dad, and let’s get to cooking organic in the Ger-Nis kitchen for the Fido’s in our lives. Sadie Rosa picky palette is our guide for the day and her recipes do not disappoint!

Nissa Pierson
Inspired by Buddy (the first pet Nissa has ever owned) who had allergies, Sadie (her finicky friend), and her own personal love of organics, Managing Director of Ger-Nis International, Nissa Pierson has been interested in and living with healthy pet foods for over 15 years. She loves to gather the family in the kitchen and teach kids that organic food doesn’t stop with adults; it has to be taught from generation to generation. She is always looking to help people avoid purchasing processed foods that are filled with ingredients we cannot pronounce, loaded with bad fats, high in sodium, and tons of chemical fillers and is ready to teach you to treat your pet the same way. In addition to running Ger-Nis, Nissa is a long time culinary instructor specializing in fresh herbs. She is a passionate teacher of fresh herbs, organics, and fair-trade. She enjoys good conversation, kickboxing, surfing, and submersing herself in the food and culture of the world. Contact Nissa
Sadie Rosa
Sadie Rosa provides the emotional support for the Ger-Nis team. Sadie can be found dozing adorably in her bed, snatching up stuffed toys in her mouth before she comes to greet you at the door, or getting excited about what’s for lunch. She loves her daily dog walker, but she hates to leave all of her colleagues in the office that can’t come with her. Each and every day she enters the building bounding forward and exits the building just as excited to leave. She keeps everyone smiling and calm in the often hectic office!
