Urban industrial chic has come to Holland, Pennsylvania with flair and flavor. Black Bull Restaurant had turned their location 180 degrees from a previous owner's watering hole into a fine dining destination. The new owners have turned the space into a dramatic diningscape of angles, curves, colors and textures. Even before entering, diners are wowed with the wide windows showcasing the triple tier of bottles that backdrop the lounge area. They present a privacy screen from the parking lot and a dramatic display from the barstool. Stepping inside, one is greeted by a striking entry area and the mellow sounds of jazz in the air. An open-hearth kitchen shiny with stainless steel, runs nearly the full length of the main dining area, stacks of white serving plates and bowls standing at the ready on the counter.Overhead, irregular triangular "kites" of white, skim over each other, masking the high ceiling above and giving drama to the room, enhanced by ever-changing lights that subtly add a spot of color to each. Comfortable chairs pull up to generous sized charcoal-stained wood tables. A glass wall keeps bar sounds apart yet allows one to relish the design of the space. Before menus are even in hand, diners are saying wow!Time is needed to mentally "taste" the offerings. Focusing on beef and seafood, the kitchen creatively mixes the bounty of today's markets-grilled salmon steak with porcini dusted shoestring potatoes and asparagus, NY Strip steak with Maytag bleu cheese twice baked potatoes. Prime Rib with sautéed greens. The culinary cuisine lends itself to an eye-catching performance. Full of texture, height, color and spices. A bit eclectic with a twist would describe the offerings. The wine list brings to Holland, wines from vineyards around the world, which are presented with the utmost professionalism.
