Symphony In A Snap

The Lancaster Symphony Orchestra announces a distinctive new concert program for the busy professional that combines networking, social media and symphonic music. Beginning in February 2012, the “Symphony in a Snap!” program is a one-hour, Thursday evening performance which will feature a pre-concert networking reception, a smartphone-friendly concert, open-seating policy and much more. Three performances will be offered for the 2011-2012 Symphony season: Thursday, Feb. 23; Thursday, April 12; and Thursday, May 17, 2012 all at the Fulton Opera House.
Symphony in a Snap! begins at 6:15 p.m. with a pre-concert catered reception, including appetizers, wine, beer and non-alcoholic refreshments, during which attendees can mingle with fresh talent from the Orchestra. Hospitality for all three performances will be provided by the award-winning Accomac Inn. The performance begins at 7:15 p.m. Attendees will have the opportunity to choose their own seats and may use their smartphones and their Twitter accounts to follow the Symphony’s audience-generated Tweets during the performance. The Tweets from a Symphony staff member will include informative comments on the selections being performed. After the one-hour concert, attendees may continue their evening at the Symphony’s selected hospitality partner and receive a discount by presenting their concert ticket stub.
The one-hour performances are excerpts from the Symphony’s Classic Concert Series of performances that will be performed the following three nights at the Fulton Opera House, and were specially selected for their appeal to those who may be experiencing symphonic music for the first time. Thursday, February 23, 2012 begins with Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto, featuring violin soloist Netanel Draiblate. Thursday, April 12 features Beethoven’s Symphony No. 8. Other highlights include Breiner’s Elvis Goes Baroque with trumpet soloist Rodney Mack followed by Copland’s Appalachian Spring. The May 17 program will feature two pieces from the Symphony’s An American in Paris concert program: Debussy’s La Mer, and Gershwin’s American in Paris.
