Pulqueria, named after the working class taverns in Mexico City, is an authentic Mexican restaurant and bar tucked away in Chinatown. Owners Christopher and Heather Tierney, the brother-sister duo behind the neighboring cocktail bar, Apotheke, have created a another visually stunning space, utilizing Mexican design materials and a riff on ancient Aztec culture. Chef Nacxitl Gaxiola has created a menu that captures the bracing flavors and freshness of Mexico City's local markets and street food. The bar, headed up by mixologist Isidro Gutierrez serves a masterful selection of tequila and mezcals, as well as New York's only 'curados de pulque,' a specialty cocktail made from the agave plant.
