This phenomenally successful children's recording artist has been credited with launching today's progressive "kindie rock" movement with a style that's less saccharine and more rockin' than most children's music. "Laurie Berkner's music is distinctive because it speaks to kids without talking down to them," says The Wall Street Journal. Berkner's inventive, playful music has made her a favorite on Nickelodeon's Nick Jr., on the Billboard charts, and in her live performances in Carnegie Hall, the White House, and on stages coast to coast. "She's a kind of sippy-cup Sheryl Crow," says Time. "Berkner inhabits a kid's curious perspective in her lyrics and pens folk-pop melodies that bear repeated-very repeated-listenings."
