Hiram Blauvelt Art Museum

705 Kinderkamack Rd., Oradell, NJ, 07649
(201) 261-0012 - Venue Website

Housed in what was originally the carriage house of the Blauvelt Estate, this fascinating Museum focuses on artwork representing wildlife.

Visitors will find many interesting exhibits, including the wooden bird collection of John Lacy; James Audubon's Elephant Audubon Book of lithograph prints; and an ivory collection from the tusks and teeth of walrus and whales.

The Art Gallery displays the works of famous wildlife artists, and a Trophy Room exhibits a marvelous collection of extinct and unusual wildlife specimens from different parts of the world.

Finally, the Indian Room shows rugs, blankets, pottery, baskets, clothing, and other artifacts from the Indian nation.

While there are no formal school programs, a one hour Guided Tour will help groups of students understand more of the history and significance of what they are viewing.
