This workshop will give an introduction to best practices in caring for any paper-based collection. Topics covered will include: handling guidelines, assessing storage materials and special needs items, prioritizing for treatment, and understanding preservation and conservation terminology. This program is appropriate for those looking to develop new skills, as well as for individuals wanting to increase their knowledge about best practices in the care of paper-based collections. Speakers will be Jessica Silverman, Paper Conservator and Preservation Consultant, and Jessica Keister, Conservator, both from the Conservation Center for Art and Historic Artifacts. Space is limited to 24 participants. Cosponsored with the Conservation Center for Art and Historic Artifacts.
