This Year a comfortable collaboration has been established in a perfect venue. The Philadelphia Artists' Collective (PAC)--committed to promoting rarely performed classical plays and new collaborative works around classical themes--will present four theater events this season at the Franklin Inn Club. These events will be open to the public and all are welcome.
The four PAC principals, Co-founding Artistic Directors Damon Bonetti and Dan Hodge; and Artistic Associates Krista Apple and Charlotte Northeast have a great reputation among the Philadelphia theater community, all either Barrymore nominees or winners and are among our finest thespians. In fact, the 2010-2011 season Barrymore Award for Outstanding Leading Actor in a Play went to Dan Hodge and Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Play was captured by Krista Apple for their acting work with Delaware Theater Company and The Wilma (respectively). The PAC's own production of "The Duchess of Malfi" was critically acclaimed last season.
The CATO Project
Monday, October 17 @ 6:00 PM
A reading of an original PAC adaptation of the Joseph Addison play "Cato" with John Lopes, one of the foremost interpreters of George Washington as Cato. The reading will be followed by a discussion of the central issues of the play the conflict of the individual vs. the good of the state and on the play's influence on the founding fathers of the United States of America. This play is the inspiration for a new PAC play currently in development, excerpts of which will be shared with the FIC in January 2012.
Classical Text Workshop
Monday, December 12 @ 6:00 PM
This will be an informal workshop on text analysis offering a brief glimpse into how an actor parses out a speech. On this evening, the audience will BE the performers!
That Winter in the Valley
Monday, March 05 @6:00 PM
A reading of excerpts from an original work, "That Winter in the Valley" by Ross Beschler and Damon Bonetti. This reading will be coupled with a discussion about the process of writing the play, which is an historical leap of imagination that examines slavery and the struggle to navigate the line between individual liberty and the good of the state using Washington's Valley Forge encampment in the context of the birth of America. This reading will be part of the process for PAC to launch a future full-production of this play.
