Making it first appearance in Philadelphia the Modigliani Quartet was formed in 2003 and first attracted international attention in 2004 by winning the Frits Philips String Quartet competition in Eindhoven. The ensemble later took First Prize at the Vittorio Rimbotti competition in Florence in 2005 and won the highly prestigious Young Concert Artists Auditions in New York… Show more in 2006 allowing them to regularly tour in the US. It has since become one of the world's most sought after chamber ensembles. The group has performed in such prestigious venues as Vienna's Musikverein, Amsterdam's Concertgebouw, New York's Carnegie Hall, Washington, DC's Kennedy Center, and Tokyo's Kioi Hall. For its PCMS debut the Modigliani's bring a wonderful program of classical and romantic works ending with Ravel's masterpiece. Upon hearing it for the first time -- Ravel's friend and colleague Debussy said: "In the name of the gods of Music and for my sake personally, do not touch a note of what you have written."
