Yundi

Not yet 30, the brilliant young Chinese pianist Yundi stunned the music world a decade ago when he won the 14th annual Warsaw Chopin Competition at the age of 18, and his subsequent rise to fame has been nothing short of meteoric. He continues to imprint the music he plays with a personal esthetic reminiscent of Rubinstein and Horowitz - with chops to match. And what would be more appropriate for his return to McCarter than an all-Chopin program, encompassing his arch-Romantic art in every respect, including Five Nocturnes and the "Heroic" Polonaisein A-flat, as well as the almost Byronic drama of the Second Piano Sonata with its famous "Funeral March."
