Earth From Space

Did you know the state of Delaware has played a major role in our exploration of space? Learn more when you experience our latest traveling exhibit, Earth From Space! See incredible images of our planet from a new vantage point with satellite photographs displaying major cities, forest fires, hurricanes, and river deltas. Plus, discover how satellites are being used for more than just space exploration, including tracking massive flocks of birds in their annual migrations.

In addition, view… Show more the Delaware state Moon rock, one of a number of Moon specimens brought back to Earth on the Apollo 17 space mission! In 1972, the Apollo 17 astronauts collected Moon fragments in a series of moonwalks over a three-day period. When they returned, President Richard Nixon ordered the fragments be given away to each of the 50 U.S. states, U.S. provinces, and over 100 foreign countries as acts of good will. This incredible specimen will be on display at the Museum alongside a NASA Apollo space suit, as well as the current Space Station space suit made by local company ILC Dover, formally International Latex Corporation of Frederica, DE, a pioneer in space suit technology over the last 50 years.
